played it for a little while just now, up untill you get the pistol, seems to play the original gun sound. That was one of the problems of playing the standard PSone disks on the PS3 wasn't it? it made some high pitch noise when ever you fired the pistol? Was just thinking though, considering how the PSP handles the PS1 controls (L2 and R2 are moved to the analog nub, moving it left and right for there respective shoulder buttons) Makes it kinda hard to aim the gun, huh? don't know if you can switch if its 1 or 2 buttons you hit or not. will have to look into it now i suppose.

I can't confirm it for lack of a European PSN account, but apparently Silent Hill has been released today on the PlaystationStore as a PS1 Classic for £3.99 NO WAI. Dammit, I need to get a PS3. :/

I have it now :-) Yay! SH1 in bed. Apart from the analog nub bein used for targeting its a wonderful thing to see on the small screen. £3.99 is a bargain really IMO
Also, I thought it would work pretty well on the Wii. But its if they could restrain themselves with the waggling. Sure, a basic swing left or right or a hard up or down strike would be fine, also consider the Wii controllers speaker, sure its not much but you could have the radio static coming through it. Ok so its not happening on the Wii, I was hoping it was though and Im probably in the minority on that one. I think it had potential on Wii. Anyway, excuse me while I go look for the Keys of the Eclipse ;D

So you can download it onto your PS3 and put it on your PSP? But it's not available in Canada yet?

(Home button -> Controller Settings -> Custom) Just put R2 on R and change the rest as you see fit. Tabris: Why don't you just make an EU account? (Although, I don't know if you can use your credit card if it's not registered in Europe...)

Might have to try that. I'd just like to play all the SH games on one system and since SH1 was buggy, this would be really nice.
Just need to make the stupid PS2 version of Origins work properly somehow~

(Although, I don't know if you can use your credit card if it's not registered in Europe...) i've been fiddling with the control options on the psp. Its hard to find anything that feels great, but i've got Movement set up to the analog nub, left as L1, Right as R1, L as L2, R as R2 and down as L1+R1. The best i could come up with. A little annoying though, since when ever i go into the item screen, i want to use the Dpad instead of the nub. Game looks great on the PSP though, some minor graphical problems with it though (Harrys picture in the item menu has some distortion on it, and that locked door in the Dog House house, when i had used all the keys on it, that had some distortion too.)

Don't really wanna get into a Console War, but...
I think I'll post this anyways. yeah. --
Here's what they ought to do (in my opinion.)
Xbox - Take Silent Hill 1, make it an Xbox Live Arcade Game. That's not a bad thing to do, it would work. Take Silent Hill 2 and put it on the Xbox Classics list, the ones for download. (Still can't get over that they put Indigo Prophesy AND Dreamfall on the list... two of the Best, sorta underrated Games on that console.
PS3 - Take Silent Hill 1 and release it on the Play Station store. As for the other titles, not sure, they can do what they want, but Silent Hill 1 should be re-released simply because it's so rare.
wii - Take what you will. Remake, whatever. I don't mind if they get it. but it won't sell well, that's for sure... The Wii simply isn't a mature console. It's a good gimmick and It's great that it's bringing video games to a wider audience. But really... Don't expect it to go well.
Please don't kill me.

^your just trying to share the love, thats no reason to kill you ... yet.
I don't see them doing a port for the XLA. Be great if they did, but i just don't see it happening. Wish sony would announce a PS2 classics thing aswell, but with the majority of there systems out not have BC means its going to come down to software emulation, thats been rumoured, but constantly shot down. Interestingly, i just saw a post saying Silent Hill has dissapeared from the Australian PSstore. Just checked and its not there.
And i wouldn't dis-miss the wii for mature games. given the Right Dev, you could end up with some pretty cool mature games. House of the Dead Overkill and Madworld (both from Sega) are violent well recieved games. RE4 worked well on the wii too. It just needs to be handled right. its still early days for the system, theres hope.

Sony has said they are planning on bringing a ton of 'past generation' games to the PlaystationStore, making it sound like more than just PS1 and maybe even PS2 games, so I have a feeling they're working on making it work.

They are so far living up to that promise. I now have Silent Hill, Command and Conquer Red Alert, Crash Bandicoot 2 and Driver. I never thought Id use that service but they have some pretty nifty games on there. Magic Carpet came out today I think too (if anyone one remembers this, you can have a cookie AND milk).
I dont care who poo poo's the idea but the more I think of it the more I want a Wii-make (equips flame shield and earplugs!)
@pac-white and Alexy - Thanks for the tips on controls, it never occured to me to try that.

Apologies for the double post.....BUT.... kotaku.com/5194470/silent-hill-wii-remake-confirmed-by-nintendo-powerTA DAAAA! FROM THE ARTICLE “The characters play different roles, things don’t necessarily happen in the same order, and the story is taken in lots of new directions. You still play as Harry Mason, you’re still looking for your daughter, and you’ll see familiar elements, but they’re all twisted to betray your expectations.” “One of Shattered Memories’ most significant and intriguing additions—your answers actually affect how the game unfolds. And it doesn’t end there. the game “watches” you constantly, and your behavior throughout can determine when you’ll meet certain characters, which scenes you’ll witness, and a variety of other factors.” “In Silent Hill games, the town always gets inside the protagonist’s head,” say Hulett. “But now, it’s getting inside YOUR head.” “We’re using the Wii Remote to interact directly with the environment, so the puzzles are all based around that idea,” says Hulett. “You’re not just hitting buttons to choose things.” He also notes that the solution to a puzzle is always in the immediate vicinity, and assures us there’s a lot less backtracking then in previous games.” “Longtime fans of the series will also be delighted to learn that there’s a way through every locked door; no more checking dozens of entrances only to find that 90% of them are permanently barred shut.” (PS Dont shoot the messenger....its NOT my fault and Im 90% sure now this isn't an April Fool)

Hell, the Resident Evil remake worked. I'm willing to give this a fair shot.
I think it would be pretty cool to have the radio static come out of the Wiimote speaker instead of the tv.

Mr. Average Fan walks down the street with a copy of Silent Hill in his hand, happily minding his own.
"Dum de dum dum dum . . . "
When suddenly . . . [cue the villain-tying-girl-to-railroad-tracks piano music] Mr. Konami runs by in a black ski mask and snatches the game.
"Yoink!" "Hey!" "It's all right. I'm gonna make this game really good." "But it already-" "It's OK! The story's gonna be a little different now." "But it-" "It's gonna be really scary." "But-" "I'm gonna make it for the Nintendo Wii." "WHAT!? You sonofa-" "Gotta go!"
Mr. Konami runs away. "Help! Police! He stole my Silent Hill! Oh, that awful, awful man!"
