Remaking SH1? Big mistake
Putting it on the Wii? Even bigger mistake. They'd be missing the core audience and the game would be crippled by the Wii's graphical limitations

Now, if Climax is behind it supported by Konami again, OK, better than nothing. I'm all for remakes in general, and if you don't like it, stick to the original.
But the Wii? ...Naaaaah.
But the PSP is also mentioned, and that piques my interest. I'd definitely get a remake of the first SH for the PSP.

I think a remake would be pretty cool, after all Tomb Raider Anniversary turned out well. Not too sure about the Wii concept though, wouldn't it be kind of difficult to control? And they'd most likely have a revamped vocal cast if SH:O is anything to go by.

Yeah, with the Wii controls it'd turn into RE5 or something.
If they're gonna remake you may as well go all out and do it for the big boys (PS3/360)

Been wanting a remake for ages. On the Wii though? Not so much. PSP, sure. Why not PS3 and Xbox 360 though? Like c'mon, make it worth it.

I'd really enjoy a remake on the PS3. They should make it available to a wide audience.

It worked for Resident Evil on the Gamecube. Putting it on the Wii? Even bigger mistake. They'd be missing the core audience and the game would be crippled by the Wii's graphical limitations Crippled? No, that's just silly. The Wii isn't the powerhouse that is the PS3, but it is not a bad looking system. The Gamecube wasn't a particularly beefy system, and the aforementioned Resident Evil remake looked amazing. And so what if the graphics aren't SOTA? The original Silent Hill wasn't particularly amazing visually when it was released, but 5 sequels and assorted spin offs later, we're all here. To me that says something about its quality. The only thing they'd have to be careful with is the controls. They could easily port over the original control scheme via this thing, or, if they could find a gimmicky control scheme that actually works, then more power to them. If they're gonna remake you may as well go all out and do it for the big boys (PS3/360) I'd really enjoy a remake on the PS3. They should make it available to a wide audience. Worldwide console sales as of December 31st, 2008: Nintendo Wii - 44.96 million Xbox 360 - 28.5 million PlayStation 3 - 21.3 million It seems to me that if the rumor is true, they are making the game avalible to a wide audience, via this generations "big boy". I don't own a Wii, so I have no vested interest in this. However, the idea that it simply can't do a game like this is absolutely absurd.

A Silent Hill remix, fine. Just as long as they don't go all Twin Snakes on it, adding extra/extended scenes and getting new voice actors. But for the Wii? Why the Wii?
I don't get why the Wii is still the top seller. It's a neat idea, but you'd think more people would have realized by now that it's not really much good for the "age twelve and up" crowd. How can a system with such a crappy game library be selling so well?
Honestly, I had one and I sold it in less than a year's time to buy a PS3. If there were to be a re-release of Silent Hill, the PS3 and 360 would be the ideal consoles. I just can't see Nintendo being smart enough to release a game that older audiences would really get into and furthermore make certain it doesn't play horribly.
Sorry. We need a "rant" smiley.

Nintendo is, and will forever be, a kiddie company. It can try to lure others by more mature titles Like MadWorld but it probably wont work.
Having motion controls will dictate how the gameplay will be (more shooter-esque). Its like 3D movies, they're filmed so as much shit flies at the screen as possible so it appears 3D
The only reason the Wii is popular is because it has a new mechanic.
"Oh! I have to move my controller to do things? I'll take 4!" Its like then the N64 introduced rumble packs.
And bigger numbers don't mean more sales when you take audience into consideration. PS3 owners are by and large more likely to buy a new Silent Hill than a Wii owner because a PS3 owner, more often than not, has owned a PS1 and PS2, which all SH's appeared on.
The Wii is mostly geared towards kids/teens and under-sexed housewives. Hell, 6 of my friends mothers bought a Wii for Wii Fitness and thats all they use it for. Somehow I don't think they'll buy a SH title on the Wii
All in all, I think the Wii is a joke. Its popular because it involved a new mechanic (motion controls) that quickly grew tired and old

I'd rather have a port of the arcade game than a remake of SH1 for the Wii. The Wii is perfectly suited for the arcade game mechanics. Actually unless they put the Ambulance Ending in, a remake will be utterly pointless.

Really?! I was under the impression that the general view back on SHF was that we wanted a remake in time for the 10th anniversary. Guess you cant please everyone. I'd really enjoy a remake on the PS3. They should make it available to a wide audience. From a cold, hard business point of view Konami have made the right choice: 1) Theres a lack of horror titles on Wii so thats an obvious point. 2) The cost of making and promoting a PS360 title is enormous in comparison to Wii. Consider the fact that Homecoming in the US has sold 370,000 copies across both platforms (http://helldescent.com/silent-hill-homecoming-eu-release-today/ ). The argument that PS3 owners are more likely to buy due to them owning PS1 and PS2 in the past doesnt stack up as it is 360 thats pulling in the majority of sales. 3) Anyway, it might mean they spend a bit extra than the average development team on graphics: Putting it on the Wii? Even bigger mistake. They'd be missing the core audience and the game would be crippled by the Wii's graphical limitations You've already mentioned MadWorld, a game that's undeniably visually striking. HOTD Overkill makes excellent use of filters for the grainy grindhouse feel (hint to Climax there) and Mario Galaxy is the most obvious example of fantastic graphics. Its up to developers to put the effort in. Besides, if youre going to quibble then give some to PSP aswell. It does have the worst graphics of the two. Yeah, with the Wii controls it'd turn into RE5 or something. Is that such a bad thing? RE4 on Wii has one of the best shooting controls/mechanics out there. It may make gun combat easier but Climax could balance it out by making the cursor more sensitive to your shaky hands or have the cursor shake a bit (a la RE4's stockless Red9) to throw off perfect shots exery time. Anyway Homecoming has similar over the shoulder shooting and I've yet to hear any serious whinging about it. Controls are always going to be an issue on Wii and whether Climax will use motionplus is another worry to add to the pile. However if done right then theyll add to that imortant sense of immersion. I'll take that over realistically rendered mud brown/gun metal grey every time. If the fans are that worried Climax can always opt to put classic controller support in as well as the motion. On the whole I'd be cautiously optimistic. Graphical upgrades are always welcome (but that depends on which format is the lead). Redone voice and audio would be fantastic, but would McGlynn fit in anywhere? Remakes are fine but will there be new content? New costumes, weapons, areas and filling out the story a little to tie it into Origins or just filling out the story as it is? RE for Gamecube managed all of this but the question is whether Climax will go to all that effort. Most imortantly is if Climax will retain the fixed camera or go for a system more like Homecoming and how this will impact upon the controls. If its any good ill pick it up for Wii as having it on a home console and playing it alone in the dark will be far better for atmosphere than playing it on the bus on a sunny day. Sorry its so long but some things have to be said.

So you want Silent Hill to have action controls?
I gotta admit, it'd be a smart way to drive away players seeing as the gameplay itself would probably be more action orientated as well
Maybe they'd change Harry from an author to gruff war vet
I think you need to lose the attitude.
