Bitch bitch bicth,
You know what? a recast of Silent Hill 2 kinda sounds appealing to me, I am not going to spend money on a game that is just a slighty prettier version of the orginal, because you know why? Because one of two versions I would have then would prouberly never see the light of day again. Either I'll love the HD one and never play the orginal again, or I'll still stick with the orginal and never play the HD one again.
However if the game actually had new content, new voices and models, I'll pay for that. Two different takes on the same story might mean I'll love both versions, depending on how it's done. It would be a remake of sorts.
Of course they might screw it up and then I'll just deny it's existance, but If it's good I am not going to be petty fanboy and bitch about a decent performance just because it's different from an ten year old version

Heard about the new voices thing on Silent Hill Heaven. Honestly, as long as Vincent still sounds hammy then I probably won't mind too much.

I don't see why they can't just pay the original cast the money they owe and re-use the existing footage. They're going to need to pay the new cast members anyway so it'll still cost them. Personally I think it's cheaper just to pay the original cast their due.
I won't deny that I'm angry. Afterall, I feel just as cheated about this as Guy Cihi does. I'm a little disappointed Konami treats it's actors this way, and that they're not willing to give the cast their hard earned dosh.
As for the HD release, I don't think I'll bother. It seems like another way to milk the franchise for all it's worth, and I already own both SH2 and SH3. I really don't care about fancy graphics, and with an entirely new voice cast, it's going to leave people bitching and moaning about which was better. Not to mention the select few, "SH is dead to me!" Whingers that will use this new information to fuel the fire.

Personally I think it's cheaper just to pay the original cast their due. I suspect that paying the orginal cast royalties would cost more than paying an new cast, so either two things have happened, either Konami is paying less money to actors than they used to, or the orginal cast is demanding more money.

So how come is it that only James' actor is seeking compensation? Are we really to believe that the other actors were treated differently? Why would Konami do that?
Since Guy brought it up, I decided to recheck on the so called use of his perforance on the making of DVD. While he was definitely in there, it was mostly shots of him facing away from the camera just standing and making small gestures, while on the other hand we have the actors of Maria, Angela and Eddie well in shot delivering some of their character's signature quotes, Their performances on the making of is much more involved than that of Guy's. Also Maria's actor must of known about the DVD because she voiced the intro for it. So what happened? He was the only one out of the loop about the DVD? Why?
Neither of these actors seem to be bothered about the platinum release either, maria's actor must of known about other releases as she voiced the extra game mode on the Xbox version.
Whatever is going on, it must be only about Guy and not konami's treatment of actors as a whole, because apprantly the other actors knew stuff that he surpossingly didn't and they arn't complaining about mistreatment.

Meh. Never understood the purpose of those HD collections ... it all seems pointless to me and yet people happily support such nonsense by buying it. Play the original if you so wish to have a trip down memory lane, why the fuck would you pay for a shinier version of the same game? This might be the start of series of olden series butchering ... just remember ... when you play Resident Evil 2.164767 HD classic pack ... I foretold it

^ The point is that most PS2 games look bad on an HDTV, and that's all a lot of people have. Plus a lot of people don't have PS2s. The point is that more people will play Silent Hill 2 and 3 this way.
In my opinion the more ports of good games the better. Ports are underrated.

Yes Dave, I agree. I would buy a Silent Hill art book or Lost Memories if I missed the town. Or boot up my copy of the game. Not buy a freaking HD version with replaced voices I don't need... Just my two cents.

shame they arn't doing the first game, now that would be something. No pointyness, no fixed pokerface expressions, no monotone acting and no more smart as an orange Harry.

^ Now now James was dumber than Harry. James couldn't even have the sense to walk over foot high barriers. And SH1 wouldn't be the same without bad voice acting. Newer graphics I'd be up for though, at least as an interesting experiment. Everyone seems to be assuming though that if they had included SH1 they would totally revamp the graphics, which they AREN'T doing for SH2 and SH3. Why? Because it's a PS1 game? If they can make SH2 look good on an HDTV I don't see why not SH1. I mean, SH2 looks BAD on an HDTV.

I foretold it As has been stated, the biggest draw is that the old version look like utter garbage on a widescreen HDTV. I'm buying these collections almost PURELY so that I can play the game in true widescreen without it looking like a smashed down, muddy mess. That alone is worth the price of admission to me. My TV can produce some GORGEOUS images, it's a nice 1080p display and all, but when you put a PS2 game in it, it looks by FAR worse than playing that game on a normal SDTV.

It's a good thing I don't care about graphics much. I just got finished beating Chrono Cross for the ten billionth time on my widescreen and still loved it. Will have to play SH1 on it later. Different voice actors though... wtf... that's horrible. Their voices were iconic. If they're saving money the voices will probably be lousy too. WTF Konami? Go back to glory days once in awhile. People might actually like you guys again. God they're lazy asses. New content and unlocks with original cast. Is that so hard? God they piss me off. Holding on to my classics thank you. F*** you Konami.
